"Back in the Saddle"

After a prolonged period of inactivity (work and family matters do take time), I am back on line. I want to thank the staff at Townhall in helping me get set back up.

Happy Birthday to the USA

I have had little time in the last few weeks to do any posting (my daughter and her family were moving to Louisiana). However, I did want to wish the United States of America a Happy Birthday.

During the last 231 years there have been some tough times. Times, that to quote a favorite writer of mine, "try men's souls". I believe that we are about to enter another set of tough times. This country will face enemies both at home and abroad. The hardest of the two to combat will be those at home.

So again, on this up coming 4th of July, 2007 I want to wish a Happy Birthday to our country. A toast if you will, not to some human king or ruler, but to all of the good people who make up this great country of ours. Let us all strive not to be "summer soldiers" or "sunshine patriots"; but to be the type people that Thomas Paine wrote The Crisis to inspire.

I Have Added a New "Blog" Site

I have added a new "blog" site and heartily recommend you take a look at it. The name of the site is: "Take Our Country Back". The writer's handle is "Snooper". He has some very interesting information gathered on the War in Iraq. Check the blog roll at the bottom of this page (just roll down to the bottom right hand side).

This Is Getting Monotonous

I have just read that Pakistan and its Islamic leaders are threatening Great Britain for giving a knighthood to Salman Rushdie (author of the "Satanic Verses").

This is truly getting monotonous. First, the Islamic World threatens political cartoonists all over the world. Now, Pakistan is threatening Great Britain for giving a knighthood to some one that the Islamic World has threatened to kill.

When is the "West" going to realize that no amount of diplomacy is going to change these people or have any effect.

The only way that the "West" can get their attention will be the "nuking" of several key cities or areas in the Islamic World.

Amnesty or Destruction of the USA?

The so-called amnesty bill (S.1348) can only be called the "Destruction of the USA" Bill; because that is what it will do. Allowing 12 to 14 million illegal aliens (and the estimated 30 to 60 million close family members back in these illegal aliens' home countries) to become residents and/or citizens is as close to the idea of "suicide" to the USA as could be imagined. If the total number of new residents and/or citizens is only 25 million, think of the effect on our culture from everything from language to social security to politics to education.

I supported President Bush in both elections. I supported and still support the War on Terror. However, I can no longer support him in this. If the Republican Party supports the amnesty bill, then I can no longer support it.

I have telephoned and emailed Senator Trent Lott (Mississippi-R) until I am "blue in the face". All he seems to say is that the amnesty bill is no big deal with his constituents.

There is talk that this bill will not be debated any time soon. That is not good enough. It must be completely thrown away and these illegal aliens gotten out of our country. If anyone says that they (the illegal aliens) are needed because they are willing to do work that our own citizens won't do, then I say shut down all entitlements (such as welfare, food stamps, and SSI). Tell those citizens that were on these government handouts that if they won't work then they get to starve.

I am sure that in no time at all, all of these jobs will be filled with people who would rather work than not eat.

If you are reading this and agree with me, please contact your representative and senators to voice your concern.

Iran Wants to Talk to the U.S. Congress?

I just read an article dated May 15, 2007, that certain elements of the Iranian parliament want to talk to the U.S. Congress. I am a little skeptical; however, it is interesting. The way I see it there can only be three reasons for this sudden change in diplomatic relations:

1. Iran is scared that we are about to take some kind of military action along the border with Iraq. This could have an effect with the more moderate groups within Iran who want to get rid of the existing radical-run government. Therefore, they want to open a dialogue and possibly shut down any future military action.

2. Iran has seen the newly elected Democrats in Congress in action. They have also seen a change of attitude in France and Europe. Iran therefore believes they might obtain an edge in future negotiations by talking to a more liberal U.S. Congress.

3. A more sinister reason, they want to "lull" us into believing they are sincere. Iran in turn, starts some type of drastic military action (i.e., a major movement of Iranian troops into Iraq, large-scale Iranian sponsored terrorist strikes against U.S. interests in the Middle East, etc.).

That they are truly sincere, would be unbelievable to me. If there had been a major revolution in Iran, with moderate forces gaining control, I could believe their sincerity. Otherwise, they want us dead, just like Israel.

Book Review: A Few Acres of Snow

I just finished reading a great book on the French and Indian Wars:

"A Few Acres of Snow", The Saga of the French and Indian Wars (Robert Leckie, copyright 1999)

The book treats the period of time (from 1641 to 1763) when France and Great Britain battled for the North American continent. Mr. Leckie does not go into extreme detail on each of the separate wars (i.e.; King Philip's War, War of the Grand Alliance, War of the Spanish Succession, War of the Austrian Succession, and the Seven Years' War or French and Indian War). Instead he gives you the general details, with graphic and up-close descriptions of these wars' battles fought in America. It ends with the final decisive battle at Quebec's "Plains of Abraham".

The title of the book comes from a conversation of King Louis XV of France and Voltaire concerning the news that Canada was no longer French but now British. Voltaire, trying to console the king (and in a wonderful understatement), said, "After all, Sire, what have we lost - a few acres of snow?"

I heartily recommend this book.

Abdul Hadi al Iraqi Captured

The capture of Abdul Hadi al Iraqi (aka, Abd al-Hadi al-Iraqi; aka, Abu Abdallah; real name: Nashwan Abdulrazaq Abdulbagi) some time in the recent past is more than a break in the War on Terror. It proves that the Iraqi War is the first line of defense in this war.

Nashwan Abdulrazaq Abdulbagi was born in Iraqi and had risen to the rank of major in the Iraqi army under Saddam Hussein. He left the Iraqi Army and went to Afghanistan to fight during the Soviet occupation. There he apparently joined Al Qaida and had risen to a high position because of his connections to the Iraqi Army and his command ability.

He is proof of the connection between Saddam Hussein/Iraq and Al Qaida. He is further proof that the Iraqi War is "sucking" terrorists into Iraq to fight US forces. His position in Al Qaida appears to have been that of a coordinator, sending Al Qaida "troops" into the best locations in Iraq to do the most possible damage. His knowledge of Iraq and the insurgent base (made up of former Iraqi Army personnel) would be crucial to that position. He would have the contacts to help get these "foreign fighters" into the country.

Abdul Hadi al Iraqi is also proof that the terrorists are not just "criminals and thugs". He is a combat trained soldier with an incredible knowledge of how to fight a guerilla war, that he learned fighting the Soviets.

"What part of...."

What part of "Radical Islamists want to kill all non-radical Islamists (including all Christians, Jews, Hindus, etc.)" do liberals not understand?

These people are serious! They are not joking. They are not making idle comments. There is no way, short of killing them, to change their mind. There will be a very few who realize that their view of the world is wrong and will be willing to sit down and discuss the matter. However, without protection from non-radical Islamists or Christians or Jews or Hindus, etc., the Radical Islamists will try to kill this "very few".

Maybe the USA was wrong to go into Iraq, maybe not. However, we are there now. We have to finish the job or allow the Radical Islamists to perceive that we are weak. (Also, every terrorist who stays over there to fight "the Great America Satan", is one less that we will eventually have to fight here.)

Broadband Wireless Internet in Mississippi Delta

BROADBAND WIRELESS INTERNET in Mississippi Delta

I am working on a project (with federal grant money) to install a broadband wireless internet in a small Mississippi Delta town. It is amazing the technology coming to the region. I wonder what changes will come about in the next 50 years compared to the last 50 years.
