For fun, I thought I would list five great movies concerning our Country's finest, the US Military. I personally recommend all of these movies; but I know that there are others that are just as good. Please feel free to recommend any of your own favorites. In no particular order, my five favorite Memorial Day movies are:
1. Twelve O'Clock High (1949; B/W; Gregory Peck): The 8th Air Force's bombing of Germany.
2. Battleground (1949; B/W; Van Johnson): The 101st Airborne at Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge.
3. They Were Expendable (1945; B/W; Robert Montgomery, John Wayne): PT Boats in the Philippines before its fall.
4. Guadalcanal Diary (1943; B/W; Lloyd Nolan, William Bendix): The Marines and the invasion of Guadalcanal.
5. The Crossing (2000; Color; Jeff Daniels): A dramatization of George Washington's gamble at Trenton in 1776.
Hope everyone has a safe and peaceful Memorial Day. Please keep our troops in your thoughts and prayers.
